Training Update

Written by: coach - Posted in: General, Training, World Championships

This is an update to confirm Paul is continuing to train. He has taken away a lot from the time spent with Kate Parker in the warehouse and is making good progress.

Paul comments, “My stacking has come on in leaps and bounds since the training with Kate, she has taken my confidence and technique to another level, of which I never even knew it could. People have questioned my ability to stack at this level, I don’t care, it’s my life and there is one thing in mind right now, and that is to go there for Tim so I can say to him: ‘that was for you buddy.’

I could never have got this far without Tim, and we have been on such a long journey together, through times of joy, and times of pain. Tim has suffered from his devestating injury, but the suffering and pain must stop.

I am not sure if anyone will replace my stacking buddy, Mr Tim H, he has big cups to fill. But now the pack has been split, I am alone. I train alone. I think alone. I am the lone wolf.

My stacking is tighter than its ever been before. I am so focused on the World Championship right now.”

One Week Countdown: New Coach and New Methods

Written by: coach - Posted in: General, Training, World Championships

We can reveal that Paul has come out of hiding one week away from the World Sport Stacking Championship with exciting news that he has been training with underground methods. He has been at Speed Stacks UK in Essex, training in the warehouse with UK Champion Kate Parker.

It is evident that Kate didn’t go easy on Paul. She pushed him to the limits that he didn’t even know were possible. Not only did she pass on her top tips and tricks for stacking that make her the UK’s fastest, but she even put Paul through rigorous fitness training with ab destroying crunches. A tough programme but it is what Paul needs to get that ‘eye of the tiger.’

Here are some photos of Kate Parker training Paul G for the 2008 World Sport Stacking Championship in the cold conditions of the Speed Stacks UK warehouse.

EXCLUSIVE ANNOUNCEMENT: Paul Dedicates World Championships To Tim After Shock Injury

Written by: coach - Posted in: General, Training, World Championships

We can confirm that Paul G, the remaining member of the UK Stack Pack is bringing his World Championship entry forward to 2008.

With the plan to train hard until the 2009 World Championships in Denver, it is known that Paul is devestated that his stacking partner was forced to retire from stackers wrist. He has now decided that he will be in Denver on the 4-5th April to represent the UK but he will dedicating his performance to his lost buddy who sadly will never be able to fulfil his dream of representing his nation on the world stage.

Paul is really serious about this and since his return for the UK, he has been training underground and nobody knows what methods he has been using.

The day has finally arrived and the world tour has begun.

It was an emotional farewell at Heathrow Airport but with the strength and determination that these two young courageous men have, it is a challenge most welcomed.

Paul G Meets Kate Parker (UK Champion)

Written by: coach - Posted in: General

As the tour gets closer, the boys are now getting themselves all stacked up and ready to go. With lots to do in terms of training and preparation, they received an invitation from new sponsors Speed Stacks to attend an event being held at The Meadows Shopping Centre in Chelmsford, Essex.

Unfortunately, Tim was unable to make it so Paul being the other 50% of the pack attended the event.

The event was organised by Speed Stacks where UK Champion Kate Parker was present and they demonstrated and educated people about the benefits you can achieve.

A lot of people who had never seen or heard of Sport Stacking before walked away today knowing that this sport is great and is here to stay.

Below is a picture of Paul G with Kate Parker (UK Champion).

UK Stack Pack Agree Sponsorship Deal

Written by: coach - Posted in: General

After many hours of calls and emails, negotiations with the short listed parties have now come to an end. We can confirm that the UK Stack Pack has agreed a sponsorship deal with The Leader in Sport Stacks who are none other than Speed Stacks themselves.

We were offered some great deals, however we thought that by teaming up with Speed Stacks, it would be big message to those involved with the sport and for the fans.

Seeing as Speed Stacks is the Official Sport Stacking Equipment of the World Sport Stacking Association and is the only equipment approved for use at sanctioned WSSA events, we are proud and honoured to be part of the team.

We would like to thank Ron Parker of Speed Stacks UK for all the help and hard work to help the UK Stack Pack get this far.

Is Sport Stacking In The Olympics

Written by: coach - Posted in: General

A common question I am asked time and time again, is sport stacking going to be in the Olympics?

Although some would argue that sport stacking is not a real sport, some of us will argue if 22 stone guys throwing darts is also a sport?

Well, to give sport stackers of the world hope, we can confirm that we have made the move and approached Ms Barbro Ronnberg of the Association of the IOC Recognised International Sports Federation. We are now awaiting a reply and will keep you posted with any news that we receive.
